Project Engineer, Catering Systems Division
The Project Engineer plays a central role in the successful technical execution of projects within the Catering Systems Division. The position is responsible for leading and supporting engineering and design activities across the full project lifecycle—from order intake to delivery and warranty. The Project Engineer ensures that design solutions meet customer expectations, regulatory requirements, and ALMACO standards, while coordinating closely with internal teams, external suppliers, and customers. This position requires strong technical competence, structured ways of working, and the ability to drive engineering progress in a dynamic international environment.
Responsibilities
1. Project Design Leadership
Lead design activities in close cooperation with the Design Manager and under the supervision of the Project Engineering Manager.
Coordinate, organize, and streamline the work of the project design team.
Support technical decision-making, ensuring solutions align with project requirements, standards, and customer expectations.
2. Engineering Planning & Follow-Up
Prepare and monitor engineering and design schedules, detailed design tasks, and resource plans in accordance with the master plan.
Track and follow up on engineering and design hours and ensure progress against targets.
Prepare and maintain follow-up documentation aligned with weekly and monthly reporting deadlines.
3. Technical Coordination & Communication
Ensure effective coordination with customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal departments.
Organize and participate in internal and external technical design review meetings.
Communicate technical solutions clearly and proactively to stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
4. Documentation & Compliance
Ensure all design documentation (drawings, specifications, material lists, manuals) is accurate, up to date, and compliant with project requirements and ALMACO standards.
Report on design progress, non-conformities, risks, and customer feedback.
5. Cross-Functional Support & Continuous Improvement
Provide technical support to Project Managers, Designers, Procurement, Production, and other functions during project execution and warranty stages.
Actively contribute to the development of processes, working methods, product standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Educational and competence requirements
Technical Competence
Engineering degree with strong technical understanding in relevant specialty and shipbuilding.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
Proficiency in CAD software and Microsoft Office applications.
Fluent in spoken and written English.
Project & Design Engineering Skills
Experience in design coordination, technical planning, or project engineering (advantageous).
Strong organizational capabilities with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
Interpersonal & Leadership Competence
